maggie hilditch
I’m Maggie Hilditch—a painter, craftmaker, and art trainer based in Liverpool.
I studied Fine Art at Manchester University and Glasgow School of Art, and later pursued Fashion & Textiles at Middlesex University (Cat Hill Arts Campus). After a brief period working as a fashion designer, I returned to Middlesex to complete a PGCE in Secondary Art Teaching with a focus on Special Needs Education. I then went on to work in secondary education before collaborating with other artists, musicians, actors, and dancers to teach values, citizenship, and spirituality through the creative arts.
For many years, I’ve facilitated and led creative workshops in a variety of settings, including schools, churches, theatres, healthcare facilities, and retreat centres.
From 2008-10, I was artist-in-residence at Wotton Lawn Hospital in Gloucestershire, during which time she was awarded an NHS 'ROSCA' Unsung Hero award for services to mental health.
Maggie says…
"Having experienced the complexities of mental ill-health myself has made me want to produce art that brings hope to others and aids recovery, just as the creative process has helped me."
